Terumo purchase of the entire equity of Salymed,
a Chilean medical equipment importer and seller

Terumo Corporation (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan; President: Akira Takahashi) has announced today that it concluded an agreement with the owners of Salymed Ltda. (Headquarters: Santiago, Chile; President: Francisco Salinas Lyon) a Chilean import and sales company of medical equipment, to purchase all the rights in Salymed on January 12, 2007.

Since 1980, Salymed has sold such medical products as syringes, blood bags and cardiovascular systems as the exclusive distributor of Terumo. In addition, the company started to sell interventional products in the market since Fiscal 2006.

Terumo already has 100% owned subsidiary distributors in Mexico and Brazil, and by adding an overseas affiliate in the 5th largest market in South America or Chile, it will further strengthen its business presence in the Latin American market. By Fiscal 2010, Terumo targets to achieve a total amount of sales of 5.3 million US dollars in Chile. After the amendment of the company’s articles of incorporation, the company will be renamed “Terumo Chile Ltda.”. Terumo Medical Corporation, a subsidiary of Terumo in U.S.A. holds 1% of shares and Terumo Latin America Corporation, a subsidiary of Terumo Medical Corporation holds 99% of shares.
