Terumo Provides 15 million Yen's Worth of Medical Equipment and Matched Donations to Regions Affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Terumo Corporation (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo. President: Akira Takahashi) has provided 15 million yen's worth of medical equipment including syringes and transfusion sets, and a matched donation that includes donations made by associates of its subsidiary in the United States and by the company itself.

1. Background of the Donation

Terumo has been doing business in the US since the 1970s and currently operates a large number of production and sales sites. The response to this disaster within the company, particularly among local associates has been great. Therefore, we decided to provide medical equipment that will be needed in the disaster area as well as make a matched donation.

2. Overview of the Donation

  1. Products Supplied
    Medical equipment including syringes, needles and transfusion sets that are used to prevent and treat infectious diseases.
  2. Donation
    1. Matched donation made by associates and the company.
    2. Donation made to the New Orleans Blood Center.
    3. The donation made through Nippon Keidanren.

3. Timing and Method

The donation was implemented through trade organizations for medical equipment and other related organizations in the US.
