Terumo acquires distribution rights in Japan to medical contrast media
made by Guerbet of France.

We are proud to announce that Terumo Corporation (Headquartered in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo. President: Akira Takahashi) has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Guerbet SA (Headquartered in France) to distribute "Magnescope Syringe," an MRI contrast medium, "Hexabrix 320" a contrast medium for vascular and urinary tracts and "Lipiodol Ultra Fluid" a contrast medium for lymph and uterine tubes. Terumo will launch these products on January 1, 2006.

A contrast medium is a medical product that enables doctors to inspect organs and locations that cannot be inspected using X-ray or to distinguish unaffected tissue from affected tissue. Different examinations, such as CT and MRI scans, require different types of media.

Terumo holds the top share in the medical device market for products such as catheters and guide wires used in angiographic examination. Since Terumo currently sells products to circulatory and radiology departments at medical institutions, we can expect to create a synergistic effect by introducing a line of contrast media products. Terumo also distributes medical products such as high-calorie IV solutions and pre-filled syringes to medical institutions. These new distribution rights will complement our range of pharmaceuticals and medical device, and further expand and reinforce our business operations.
