Terumo Releases the "Terumo Ear Thermometer EM-30CPLB/R"
On February 1.2001, Tokyo based Terumo Corporation has released the Ear Thermometer M30 , which signals the end of thermometry with a light. Recommended retail price is 6,500 yen (excluding tax). Sales of 400,000 units are estimated for the first year;
"Mimippi Hikari" is a new variety of ear thermometer, which informs users with a light instead of sound when measurement is finished. In conventional ear thermometers, an electronic beep alone signals the completion. Our new product the "Mimippi Hikari" has been based on our customers' request that the beep startles babies during measurement or that want to take their babies' temperature without waking them up. With this new product, you can take your baby's temperature calmly without waking him/her by an electronic beep. In addition, you can change the mode to the beep signal, like conventional types.

Principles of ear thermometer measurement
Every heat source release infrared rays in proportion to its temperatures. Infrared rays given off from inside the ears can be measured to find the body temperature. Terumo's ear thermometers have a built-in high-performance sensor, which measures temperatures accurately in an instant by detecting the infrared rays.
