Wrist type blood pressure monitor for easy measurement
Terumo Digital Blood Pressure Monitor P401
Tokyo based Terumo Corporation has released the "Terumo Digital Blood Pressure Monitor P401" on December 15th. The wrist type digital blood pressure monitor, with which users can measure their blood pressure easily, will be available at pharmacies and electrical goods shops throughout Japan. Recommended retail price is 13,500 yen (excluding tax). Sales of 100,000 units are estimated for the first year.
The new product "Terumo Digital Blood Pressure Monitor P401" features a large liquid crystal display where the results are indicated. Also the "Pair Memory" function, which stores seven measurement results for two people, allows two members of the family to control each blood pressure.
Terumo has been offering upper-arm cuffs type, the same measurement method as doctors. This time, to meet our customers' requests for more compact device that can be used even at work or during traveling, we has released a wrist type blood pressure monitor as a new item. We will offer both upper-arm and wrist type to better meet our customers' needs.

Caution should be taken by the following people:
Arteriosclerosis at advanced stages caused by hypertension, hyperlipemia, diabetes, and other problems could disturb peripheral circulation. When you have such problems, there may be substantially different between pressure taken at the wrist and that at the upper arm. Please take this gap into consideration and use the device for your health control.
