New Plant in the Philippines to Supply Southeast Asian Market
-Terumo's first local production operation in ASEAN region-
Terumo Corporation (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Takashi Wachi) has decided to build a plant in the Philippines to meet anticipated demand growth in the Southeast Asian market. The project will involve a total investment of approximately JPY 8 billion. The plan calls for construction to start in September 1998, and for the plant to be operational by the year 2000. Items produced will include syringes. In addition to domestic sales, products will also be exported. First-year sales of JPY 300 million (at JPY 120 to the dollar) are anticipated.
The plant will be operated by a wholly owned local subsidiary of Terumo Corporation.
