New Terumo RENAWELL-3 High-calorie Supplement
Tokyo-based Terumo Corporation has announced the nationwide release of RENAWELL-3, a low-protein, high-energy nutritional supplement.
RENAWELL-3 provides 200 kcal of nutrition in just 125 mls. Manufactured with just 3 grams of protein, and reduced phosphorus and potassium, it is the ideal nutritional supplement for people on restricted diets, particularly those with restricted protein intake, and patients with renal dysfunction.
RENAWELL-3 will be sold to health-care institutions and also home delivered.
RENAWELL-3 will be available in boxes of 12 x 125 ml packs. The company is aiming for a 5% share of the low-protein supplement market in the first year.

It is extremely difficult to take in the required nutrients while on a protein-restricted diet. RENAWELL-3 contains only 3 grams of protein per pack (the average adult protein intake is 50-60 grams per day). However, it contains a high 200 kcal of energy, and an excellent balance of vitamins, iron, and dietary fiber, which tend to be lacking in restricted diets.
