A new standard in speedy measurement
Terumo Digital Blood Pressure Monitor ES-P110
Tokyo-based Terumo Corporation has announced the Terumo Digital Blood Pressure Monitor ES-P110, a home-use device for quick measurement of blood pressure. The ES-P110 will be sold at pharmacies and electrical goods stores throughout Japan.
The ES-P110 adopts the 'listen and measure' system, the method most commonly used by physicians to measure blood pressure. The ES-P110 is an electronic device that monitors blood pressure with displacement speed control technology for quicker measurements. The time required for measurement is shorter, and the reduced amount of time the arm needs to be tightly bound means less stress for people who measure their blood pressure at home. This new electronic blood pressure monitor is designed for home use by individuals with hypertension who require accurate measurements and anyone who is concerned about their blood pressure.
The Terumo Digital Blood Pressure Monitor ES-P110 sells for a recommended retail price of 16,500 yen. Sales of 100,000 units are estimated for the first year.
Product features
- Speedy measurement - measurement time reduced to around 3 minutes
The P110 measures blood pressure about three times faster than previous products. The long period the arm needed to be tightly bound for measurement was uncomfortable for people suffering from high blood pressure, and quick measurement can reduce that stress.
- 'Listen and measure' system for accurate measurement
Physicians measure blood pressure by wrapping an arm band around the upper arm, and placing a stethoscope on the arm. The blood pressure level is read on the mercurial column while listening to changes in vascular sounds. The Terumo Digital Blood Pressure Monitor ES-P110 has a highly sensitive built-in microphone. Accurate measurements are made using the principle of listening to vascular sounds, in the same way a physician does. Use of signals from vascular fluctuations ensures reliable measurement of blood pressure.
- Economical rechargeable battery
An economical rechargeable battery gives around 100 measurements per full charge. Measurements can also be taken while the battery is charging.
- Attractive, easy-to-use design
The unit features a rounded, gentle shape, in an all-in-one design with an arm band that packs away neatly into its own case.
